Etsy, Inc. (ETSY) is a public company listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange (Etsy Investor Relations). You pay fees for selling on Etsy, which is how Etsy makes money. The fees Etsy charges you depend on different factors, for example, the location of your business, what ads you are paying for, and even the currency of your bank account.
For a formal description of the fee structure, we recommend you to read through Etsy's Fees and Payments Policy, which took effect on 1 December 2022. The Fees and Payments Policy is a part of Etsy's Terms of use, which you agree to by opening a shop.

Amount: $0.20 per listing.
How you pay: Etsy deducts the fee from your current balance when you publish or renew a listing.
Description: For each item listed for sale on Etsy, you pay a flat $0.20 listing fee. The fee applies when you create or renew a listing. You do not pay a fee for editing an existing listing.
A listing expires after four months, and you will pay the fee whether you sell the item or not. The only exception is for private listings, where you only pay the listing fee if the item is actually sold.
Most sellers have multiple quantities of the same item for sale. You then pay $0.20 for the listing. When you sell an item, the listing will renew automatically and you will be charged an additional fee of $0.20.
Etsy recommends you always list the correct quantity of items you have in stock. Be sure to create the items in time for your estimated delivery date. (Etsy)
Amount: 6.5% of the listing price (including the cost of shipping and gift wrapping).
How you pay: Etsy deducts the fee from your current balance as each sale occurs.
Description: Etsy will charge a transaction fee of 6.5% of the list price, which includes shipping and gift wrapping. If you are selling from outside the USA, the list price will include taxes.
Amount: Depends on your bids & maximum daily budget in USD.
How you pay: Regularly, Etsy deducts the fee from your current balance.
Description: You can buy ads on Etsy to promote your products. To do this, you have to decide on a daily budget. Etsy will use your budget to place automatic bids for search queries where you want your products to be displayed (for example โnecklaceโ or โwedding invitationโ) ensuring that your products are shown when customers search for these words. The final Etsy Ad fee you pay depends on what competing stores are paying.
(Etsy Advertising)
Amount: 15% or 12% on Attributed Orders.
How you pay: Etsy deducts the fee from your current balance.
Description: You are automatically enrolled to buy Offsite Ads.
If your shop made more than $10,000 in any consecutive 365-day period after 20 February 2019, you must use Offsite Ads. There are no upfront costs. Instead, you pay the fee when you make a sale. A sale generated by an offsite ad is called an attributed order.
The standard fee for offsite ads is 15% on attributed orders. The standard fee applies if your shop made less than $10,000 in any consecutive 365-day period after 20 February 2019. The same limit makes it possible to opt out of Offsite Ads. If your shop instead made more than $10,000 in any consecutive 365-day period, you will pay a fee of 12%.
Calculating the $10,000 threshold:
Sales * (item price - discounts) - value of canceled orders
Calculating the offsite fee from attributed orders:
(Price + shipping + gift wrapping + taxes in some jurisdiction) * (15% or 12%)
The maximum fee for a single attributed order will never exceed $100.
Amount: Depends on the location of your bank account.

Description: You might want to use Etsy Payments for certain payments, for which you will pay a payment processing fee for each transaction.
